Spread the Word, Not the Germs

It’s important for everyone to wash their hands. But there are some professions where hand washing is a critical part of the job: health care workers, teachers, and anyone involved in the food industry. That’s why LifeBridge Health is so excited that the Restaurant Association of Maryland has joined us in the promotion hand washing. A variety of posters, including the one pictured here, are available free to RAM members. Each poster is available in a laminated 8 1/2 x 11 format. You can read more about it on the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation Web site. The hand washing campaign continues to “spread the word, not the germs.” When you click on Wash Your Hands Maryland, you’ll not only see our PSA but see the variety of downloadable hand … Read entire article »

Men and Their Hand Washing

At this point, it would be hard not to know that LifeBridge Health is in the midst of a massive hand washing campaign. We’ve also had great response to our Harris Interactive poll, which shows that when in a public restroom without soap or towels, 74 percent of American adults who use public restrooms would rinse their hands with water and let them air dry. Sadly, it would be no surprise to learn that researchers report in the American Journal of Public Health that roughly a third of men wash their hands with soap after using a bathroom, versus 64 percent of women. Yuck. Today is Global Handwashing Day, and what better way for LifeBridge Health (@LBHealth) to show its support than by hosting a hand washing Tweetup at Little Havana from 5 … Read entire article »

"Lights…Camera…Action!"

The Hackerman Patz House turned into commercial studio when a camera crew taped a public service announcement to promote hand washing. The stars? Children related to Courtland Gardens and Levindale employees. The message of the PSA is simple and important: wash your hands to prevent the spread of germs. You can see for yourself how the children sing “Row, Row, Row, Your Boat” and explainthat, in order to get rid of germs, hands must be cleaned for at least 20 seconds, the time it takes to sing a sing. The stars are nine children, who range in age from three to eleven. “My grandchildren had a ball,” says Phyllis Jones, an administrative assistant at Levindale. “They also understood what they were doing. Their schools have even taught them to sneeze into their elbows … Read entire article »

LifeBridge Health Kicks off Hand Washing Campaign

If you’ve felt like you are seeing signs about washing your hands everywhere you go, from the Northwest Hospital bathroom to your favorite restaurant, it’s no accident. LifeBridge Health is sponsoring a different kind of advertising campaign this fall, with the tagline “Wash Your Hands. Spread the word, not the flu.” Given recent concerns about the H1N1 “swine” flu as well as the seasonal flu, there’s never been a better time for the message to resonate across Baltimore. “We want to make hand washing synonymous with LifeBridge Health,” says Rudy Miller, vice president of Marketing and Community Relations. “When we first envisioned this campaign, it was actually before the emergence of H1N1, but now, more than ever, it makes sense that we spread the message that you can largely prevent illness by … Read entire article »
