Did you know that every LifeBridge Health hospital has an auxiliary, which is a group of dedicated volunteers who works closely with each hospital to raise funds and organize events for patients, their families and the community?
Strategic Marketing and Communications intern, Marisa Rubin, recently interviewed the LifeBridge Health auxiliary presidents to learn about what they do and how their work benefits the hospitals. In this blog post in our series, you will read about the Northwest Hospital Auxiliary.
Northwest Hospital Auxiliary President Audrey Lifcovich has been a part of the auxiliary program since the early 1980s. For more than 30 years, Lifcovich has seen a lot of changes at Northwest Hospital. She says that she is very proud to be a part of the Northwest family and is honored to run the auxiliary.
At Northwest Hospital, the auxiliary raises funds for the hospital that are used wherever necessary. Lifcovich explained, “We pledged $500,000 for the renovations of the new Emergency Department and all of this was decided by volunteers.”
The auxiliary is comprised of entirely volunteer workers - something they are very proud of! The funds raised are through sales at its beautiful gift shop, which is also run and managed completely by volunteers, including Lifcovich herself.
She believes that the auxiliary’s ability to give back and help raise funds whenever and for whatever is needed is the auxiliary’s most important role. “That’s how Northwest Hospital benefits from having an auxiliary, we are there when they need us,” she said.
Lifcovich and auxiliary members would not change anything about the auxiliary program to better it. “The way things are today, we’re doing just fine,” stated Lifcovich. “If changes are needed, we would make them. We’re simply doing our best for the hospital. When there is something new, we do it, that’s our goal, to raise money for the hospital and anything that’s needed.”
