It’s important to learn about the process, before beginning the process! What does that mean? It means that once you have committed yourself to the bariatric/weight loss surgery process you do just that, commit!
I equate the bariatric process to that of having your first child. While you are pregnant, family and friends will tell you how much your life is going to change. Yes, we know life will change, and it’s not a good decision to bring your bundle of joy home without preparation - a crib, diapers, bottles etc are essential for a newborn. Just as if you would make preparations for that new baby you must also make preparations for your new life preparing for and after bariatric surgery.
I find that those individuals who fail to plan ahead are the patients that have the most difficulty after surgery. This is another moment in life where poor planning will yield a poor result and poor coping skills. Small changes, one at a time, will ensure greater success following bariatric surgery.
When all else has failed and you have made the decision to have bariatric surgery, it is ok to be a little selfish. This is a time in your life when working on mind, body and soul can only lead to greater success. I know some of you are thinking that you just don’t have the time. The kids are in school, my job is demanding, home life is hectic, the list could go on and on. But think about this, what good are you to those around you if you are not here? Becoming a healthier you is the best gift you could give yourself and your family. In this instance, that old saying truly applies, failing to plan is planning to fail.
The first step toward success in the weight loss surgery process is to learn about the journey. LifeBridge Health offers you three options based on your preferences: attend an information session in person, participate in a scheduled live webinar, or watch a prerecorded webinar. Each method will give you the jump start you need to decide if this process is right for you.
Go ahead, sign up today! I did and I will never look back!
