New Home Transition Apartment at Sinai Helps Recovering Rehab Patients
One of the toughest aspects of undergoing physical therapy is relearning the tasks and functions that are part of our everyday routine. These include cooking, showering, making a bed and getting dressed.
The Louis and Phyllis Friedman Neurological Rehabilitation Center at Sinai helps patients learn these functions with the help of over 40 doctors, nurses and therapists. The beautiful new center, which opens this month, offers rehabilitation services to adults who have sustained a brain injury, stroke or other neurological disorder.
One of the features of the center includes a fully equipped home transition apartment, which helps patients to replicate their activities at home. Occupational therapist Rebecca Cook describes the apartment in this video:
