On Monday, April 23 Sinai’s Freedom to Be Green Team hosted a battery giveback event to commemorate Earth Week. The Green Team set up an information table located by the Greenspring Café tray return from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It was the goal of team members to educate patients and visitors about the hospital’s battery recycling program, as well as to give away free batteries.
A battery tester was used to see if batteries that were collected from the hospital’s battery recycling program still had power. If the battery showed that it still had life in it, the team members put them in a bin for people to take.

Earth Week Rechargeable Battery Giveback Event
On Monday, April 23 the Freedom to Be Green team held a battery giveback event for employees and visitors. Batteries that were collected from the recycling program were tested and given away if they still held a charge.
In addition to giving away free batteries, the Green Team also featured a video that showed the life cycle of recycled products. The video traced the journey of recycling, from the moment something is thrown into a recycling bin, to the moment it is sent to the recycling facility, to the moment it is brought back into the facility for consumption.
Later in the week the Green Team will be giving away free compost and will also be offering tours of the new employee garden.
